  • After 15 years of really rewarding work for an international organization focused on sustainable agriculture, she's now a self-employed consultant. She's super happy to finally be doing her own thing here in Oberpreth!

  • She's DD and Ela's daughter, and she's the biggest joy for all of us.

  • She's a natural beautician and physiotherapist who's worked in some amazing spas across Germany and Switzerland. That's where she got all the great ideas for her very own practice right here in the Eifel! Get ready to be pampered – Ela opened her 'Mühlenherz' practice at the end of 2020.

  • He's a sound and cameraman who, when he's not off traveling to the most beautiful places in the world, loves to sit here by the campfire in the evenings with his family and friends.

  • He's been running the coolest pubs in Saarbrücken for years with his partner Timo. But he's actually a trained carpenter and is super excited to get hands-on at the mill!

We are four friends...

Home, home, home—we've been in all sorts of places over the past few years. Our last home was Cologne, right in the middle of things instead of just on the sidelines. Ever since we met, we said that if we ever had children, we would all move together to a four-sided farmstead in the countryside. Just not stuffy and not alone, with plenty of space to realize one dream or another and give the children a free childhood. Well, then in the summer of 2019, we heard about a mill by a stream in the most beautiful valley in the Eifel, with the opportunity to create a very special place not only for us, but also for visitors and friends. In March 2020, we took the plunge, signed the papers, planned the move, and became Eifel residents shortly before the first lockdown.

About Oberprether Mill: a traditional gem in the heart of the Eifel region

In recent years, Oberpreth has become an insider tip for nature lovers from Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium. In the heart of the Eifel region, surrounded by forests and streams, lies our gem: the Oberprether Mühle.

An Eifel-place with a long tradition

The oldest part of the original mill building (above today's mill kiosk) was first mentioned around 1600. After that, the respective owners repeatedly expanded the original building step by step and also used it as a residential house. The water-powered grain mill operated until the 1960s. After that, the mill continued to operate electrically until the 1980s. In addition, there was a family farm with dairy cows and pigs until the 1990s.

Since the 1960s, the Pfingsten family has operated the space behind their house as a campground, and at times also as a vacation village with many charming wooden houses.

From 2000 to 2009, the former stable was converted into a beautiful residential building through Michael's own efforts.

In spring 2020, the Pfingsten family sold the property to us. We look forward to Oberprether Mühle the long tradition of the Oberprether Mühle and continuing to offer a very special place for locals and guests alike.
